Distinguishing Marks: Located on her left arm, just above her elbow a birth mark that can sometimes be mistaken for a mole if not looked at from the right distance. Also, on her right foot there is a beauty that many times when she was younger, her parents had thought was a speckle of dirt.
Tattoos and Piercings: Kaylynn has a tattoo on her right shoulder blade for her deceased parents and missing brother. She has her ears pierced along with her right nostril.
Vehicle (if you wish): Jeep Cherokee
Personal Style (write a short paragraph): Kaylynn is the type of girl to have a personalized style, many of which include a mixture of punk, hip-hop, a lot of bling, and a lot of clothing from hot topic. Kaylynn usually likes to have her curly and wavy hair straightened, in her opinion she looks better that way, but due to recent events, Kaylynn obviously didn’t have electricity to plug her straightener into. Being Portuguese-American, Kaylynn’s skin tone is naturally darker than most Americans. She used to enjoy wearing heels to go with the many cute outfits that Kaylynn used to make up in her spare time, but because of her constantly traveling, Kaylynn usually equipped her feet with either flat boots or her sneakers, easier for her to run away from those that are infected.
Kaylynn has a very slim body figure, though the last time that she had gone to the doctors they had told her that she was just slightly overweight. All of that changed when the world suddenly started to end. She has a piercing in the cartilage of her ear, one that she had gotten when she was fourteen years old, and another one in her nose, to rebel against her parents. Her chocolate brown eyes are definitely the feature that pops out to a lot of people. Why? Because sometimes they actually look black to a lot of people in certain light, it’s normally the reactions of people that are a little funny when they realize that her eyes were just really dark.
-PERSONAL INFORMATION-
Likes (3 at least):
- Wolves[/i] – They have always been her favorite animal since she could remember. To her, the wolf symbolizes someone who is loyal, cunning, and mysterious, sometimes that is the way that that she views herself.
- The color Blue[/i][/color] – Her favorite color in the world, only because she is convinced that people constantly told her that she can wear the color well for someone of her age. Blue is also a color for people who are calm, relaxed, and laid back, definitely a trait that Kaylynn has.
- Smartfood[/i] – You know that kind of popcorn with the cheddar cheese on it? Yeah, that’s Kaylynn’s favorite junk food on the face of the planet. Ever since she was a child, Kaylynn had been snacking on the cheesy popcorn and ever since then, she hasn’t been able to put the stuff down.
- Rain[/i] – It’s a soothing part of the weather, that usually calms her nerves down from the stressful life of 2014. Sitting inside of her car watching the rain pour down the window before she closes her eyes to rest.
- Summer.[/i] – Simply for the memories that she had with her friends before the infection began. Whenever there was an ounce of warm weather, Kaylynn was reminded of the days she spent at the beach with her best friends, the activities that they did, and the trouble that they got into at night. It’s something to remember, and because of that, Kaylynn enjoys the summer weather.
- Music[/i] – A music addict. Kaylynn couldn’t go a day without it. She carried her iPod around with her, but she managed to find herself a portable battery that charged her little electronic device ever now and again during her travels. Kaylynn was a crazy lunatic when she didn’t get some type of daily dose of music. When her iPod wasn’t working, or when it decided that it didn’t want to work anymore, she would sing herself some of her favorite numbers from 80’s, 90’s, and now.
Dislikes (3 at least):
- Being Alone.[/i] – Who wanted to be alone? Not Kaylynn. When she was alone, she thought too much about the good old days before the world had been turned to ash. She is someone who needs to have people around her at all times, she very co-dependent on the company of others.
- Radical Christians[/i] – Although they are everywhere because of the end of the world currently happening, Kaylynn still can’t stand the sight of them. They really just got on her nerves, back then when the world was safe and there were not Croats running around, they were the kind of Christian that gave people like her family a horrible name for a religion. She had a few encounters where a woman had told her that she was going to go to hell for wearing black eyeliner. Kaylynn’s smartass replied with: “You’re going to go to hell for passing judgment on me.”
-Snow… or anything cold[/i] – She hated being cold. It was a feeling that she didn’t enjoy in her hands, you know, the numbing feeling when your hands get too cold and you try your hardest to warm them up? It was that she hated, she could never sleep when she was cold, and she certainly could never get things when she was freezing cold. Most of the time when she was freezing or starting to get cold, Kaylynn sat around and did nothing.
- Croats[/i] – Who likes them anyway? Kaylynn didn’t blame them for what they could not have stopped, but she didn’t like the constant running for her life, hiding to stay safe, using violence to survive, and having to carry around with her something more than a simple little knife like she used too.
- Oranges[/i] – Everything about them, you name it, she hates it. She doesn’t like the smell, the taste, the sound and sometimes the sight of them. Why? Because when she was a little girl, the school had given her an orange and it had been bad and Kaylynn got sick off of it soon after; ever since then, Kaylynn had refused to allow herself to eat another orange again in her life.
Strengths (3 at least):
- Determination[/i] – Kaylynn has a high level for determination than most people. Because of the current situations, Kaylynn knows that it’s either do or die, and she would rather do than die, and that means she has to push herself to her limits to become stronger and continue living in this wrecked life.
- Trusting[/i] – Because of this, Kaylynn has a lot of connections. Being so trusting with those that she meets generally got her a lot of connections, as in food, water, and weapons. Usually, she doesn’t like getting weapons but it’s good to have them in the back of the car when she was moving around.
- Sneaky[/i] – Let’s face it, sometimes in order to survive in the crazy world, you got to be a little sneaky; meaning that she has to be able to hide herself from roaming croats, from people that think that she’s a croat, and for stealing. It’s a crafty technique that’s very useful when she was around people she knew that she couldn’t trust people and they had things that she was going to need.
Weaknesses (3 at least):
-Too Trusting[/i] – Being too trusting is a huge downfall of Kaylynn. Why? Because there have been time where she had things stolen from her, and had been jumped to get the things that someone else wanted. A major fault that Kaylynn had part of her personality because of the several times that Kaylynn has been screwed out of every deal that she has done and every trade that had been offered to her.
- Bad Attitude[/i] – Oh yes, even though there are many people that are afraid of Kaylynn when she turns to the dark side, her bad attitude and quick to snap habit is a horrible weakness of hers because she never realizes that she’s doing it, and because of that, people often fight with her, and because of that her too trusting quality kicks and she loses people. It’s a vicious cycle that just never seems to end.
-Friends & Family[/i] – The one thing that gets her all the time. Her friends and her family are the biggest weakness that she has, because as soon as they’re threatened, she goes insane and because she allows the insanity to cloud her judgment, she usually gets herself hurt or others and ends up being a gigantic mess.
Dreams for the Future: Kaylynn’s dreams vary. One of her big ones is to find her older brother, who had gone missing when the Croatoan virus had taken over their hometown. She had no idea where he had gone and she so desperately wants to find him. Another one of her dreams she wants is the world to be turned back to normal, and helping anyway that she could. Kaylynn missed the old times where it was okay for you to walk outside of your house and not get eaten by people, where you could go to school without having to worry about a child freaking out or someone being orphaned that very day. She just wanted everything to go back to the way that it was. Her third and final dream, she wanted to go back to school. Kaylynn was attending college when everything seemed to have gone down the hill with her family. She wanted to find everything, and then get back into the swing of things and get herself back into college to finish her degree in Criminal Justice.
Fears:
- Losing Friends[/i] – Kaylynn has the biggest fear of losing friends, whether it was to death or not, but it hurt the most knowing that they were no longer going to be in her life when she knew that they were still alive. Being dead was something different, because she knew that they were never going to be coming back, that she had to accept the fact that they were gone. When she lost a friend while they were still alive, Kaylynn feels almost as if she had done her job wrong, that there was something that she could’ve done to prevent them leaving. And because she had already lost her brother, it killed her even more to lose one more person.
-Roller coasters[/i] – Not like any of them still run today, Kaylynn still thought that they were not safe at all. She didn’t like the idea of sitting in a big metal box that zipped around on metal bars that shakes a ridiculous amount of the time. Nope, those are definitely not for Kaylynn.
-Becoming a Croat.[/i] – She’s seen how they act, how they live, and how they’re treated. Kaylynn doesn’t want to live the life as a crazy human being who runs around foaming at the mouth and growling to kill humans and probably eat them. It also means that she’ll suddenly start killing people, and she would much rather not have to do that, and she herself does not want to be killed. Besides, becoming one would mean that she would never see the people that she loved so much ever again.
-Never Finding her Brother[/i] – That’s the biggest fear on the face of this planet right now. Not being able to find her brother just ties everything together, it would mean that she would be alone for the rest of her life, and that she had lost a friend and the only family that she had left. Two of her biggest fears and two of the biggest things that Kaylynn hates, being alone, and not having anyone in her life.
Hero(es): The only hero that Kaylynn has ever had in her entire life was Steve Irwin, and you must know, she balled her eyes out when she had heard the news of his death. Ever since she was little, Kaylynn had watched him and his family and his program since she was four years old and she was allowed to watch TV. She even remembered the episode when Steve had brought the cameras into the hospital room for his daughter’s birth.
Biggest Secret(s):
Personality (write a decent paragraph):
Kaylynn is usually a very outgoing and fun person to be around. She enjoys having a good time and getting the chance to see smiles on people’s faces, especially with the world’s current location in the year 2014. But because of the horrible times it is a little hard for anyone to trust people nowadays, but Kaylynn has the trust of a saint. Everyone that she has come across she has instantly trusted and brought them around with her everywhere or brought them to places that they needed to be. Unfortunately, Kaylynn always gets screwed out of the deal because she’s always the one that people look to too either use, abuse, or steal from her. It was something that she didn’t like.
Though sometimes because of her good hearted nature and her want of always making people happy, Kaylynn has gained herself some good trusting friends, and since friends are so hard to come by in the current time, Kaylynn holds onto them for dear life and feels a little empty on the inside when she ends up losing them. Because of that, she has a motherly instinct with all of them, which means that when one of her babies gets hurt or attacked, you better watch out because Kaylynn isn’t going to stop throttling you till she knows that you’re never going to hurt them again. She quick to respond to a call when someone needs help, even when they just need to vent about something that is going on in their life. It’s something that Kaylynn takes dear to herself, and she wants to be able to let these people know that she’s trusting, that they can hold onto her if they wanted too. So when angered, Kaylynn is a very vicious woman.

History:
Kaylynn Winry-Anne Maverick was the second child born to Mark and Helena Maverick in 1995 on March 19th in Milford Regional Hospital in Milford, Massachusetts. Her older brother, Marky, had been born just eighteen months prior on July 28th, 1993. Kaylynn received the middle name of Winry-Anne after her grandmother, whose full name happened to be Winry Anne Maverick, Anne being the middle name that was tradition for her family to have given to all females born. Kaylynn’s father was adopted and her mother had come to America when she five years old from her home country, Portugal. Her parents were young when her and her brother were born, or at least they felt that they were young, her father was twenty seven when she was born, making her mother twenty-five.
Because of her father’s job, the family was constantly moving. They moved from their joint home in Milford with their grandparents to New York, Vermont, and then eventually back to Massachusetts where they had settled themselves into a two-story house with three bedroom house that was located in Whitinsville, Massachusetts by the time that Kaylynn was four years old. It was here in this little town where Kaylynn had gone to school and grew up.
Ever since she could remember, Kaylynn’s father had been a very devoted Christian, and ever since she could remember Kaylynn and her brother have been attending Church with him, and because of that, it eventually converted their mother and going to church every Sunday morning turned into a family event. The Mavericks were always the first few to get to the church – Faith Fellowship Church – earlier enough to get a front row seat. But there was one time where the family had been late resulting them in having to take the only seats left in the back, Kaylynn didn’t like that very much. She got upset and refused to do anything else for the rest of the day while they were there. Her mother had taken her to the bathroom and finally asked what was wrong with sitting in the back. Kaylynn’s response was:
“I can’t see Jesus’ feet from there.”
It was then that they realized that their daughter was going to be someone with special abilities when she got older. And they were right.
A year later when Kaylynn was starting the first grade, Kaylynn came downstairs one morning with a smile on her face, why was that something special? Because Kaylynn is actually a rather cranky little girl in the morning; her mother noticed this instant change in her daughter and asked her why she seemed to be happy.
“God showed me the Gates of Heavens.”
Think that was the only time? Of course not. Three years later the Maverick Family had purchased a pool, an above ground pool for them to enjoy during the scorching hot summer days of New England. Both Marky and Kaylynn were young at the time, Kaylynn at the age of seven and Marky at the age of nine. Their parents were nervous about letting the children into the pool without them being supervised, they were afraid that something was going to happen to the two of them. As Kaylynn grabbed herself a towel and peeked out the window and smiled, she turned back around and put her parents’ hears to rest with one sentence: “Don’t worry, Daddy. There’s an angel looking over the pool, we’ll be safe. Promise.”
Being so gifted was pleasurable for her parents. It gave them a sense of security, like a security system on a house. But every system had its flaws, being so young Kaylynn believed that everyone heard angels in their head and saw them as little balls of light. And because of that, Kaylynn spoke often and highly of the things that she sees and hears. The more she spoke about it, the more the other children believe that she was weird. When the kids in her grade were old enough, they started to pick on Kaylynn by calling her names, taking her lunch money, breaking her things, and taking her things.
This went on well into middle school, where it proceeded to get worse. Kaylynn went through consent ridicule from everyone in her grade, leaving her with pretty much no friends. One day, in eighth grade, when one of those popular girls had decided that she was going to make fun of Kaylynn, better yet, she was going to make fun of her mother. Because Kaylynn had no friends, she had a strong sense of family, and she didn’t mind when people made fun of her, but when it came to her family it was a different story. This girl had decided that she was going to make fun of Kaylynn’s mother, since she was not an American citizen just yet, and Kaylynn had told her countless times that if she didn’t stop, she was going to get her. The girl didn’t listen, and the next thing that happened was that Kaylynn’s fist ended up in the mouth of her peer and she was sent to the office.
Until her fifteenth year of life, she met a young girl named Caroline Bartlett, a new student in school, just moved here to Whitinsville. Kaylynn decided – after she gotten herself some confidence – that she was going to show the girl around. When she did, the two of them instantly became good friends. They did everything together to the point that they were attached to the hip. One day, Caroline had invited Kaylynn to come over for a sleep over. Being friends, Kaylynn had decided that she was going to do it, and as she got out of the car and headed up the steps in front of Caroline’s house, there on the porch had appeared something that she hadn’t seen for a long time and hasn’t spoken about since she was very little.
A little ball of light hovering up and down on the porch, and as she got closer to the Bartlett home, the light was getting larger and beginning to take shape of an angel, one of the many angels that she had seen when she was a child. Kaylynn should’ve taken that as a warning, but as she walked into the house, everything began to change. As she was introduced to her best friend’s parents, she couldn’t help but stare at their eyes, which were nothing but black pits of death. But when she turned to Caroline, Caroline’s were fine and she didn’t seem to notice. Kaylynn had followed her best friend upstairs into Caroline’s bedroom, and when she had opened the door. She was not expecting what she saw on the floor.
Painted on the floor in the bedroom, was an inverted pentagram, and set around were lit candles and the lights were turned off. When she turned towards Caroline, her eyes had suddenly turned black and then further invited Kaylynn into the room. She had no idea what was going on, but she had decided that she should get the hell out of there. And she did, she told Caroline that she wasn’t feeling well and left the house, only to next day never see Caroline ever again.
Another year later, and Kaylynn decides that she was going to go to Youth Group that had just started in her family church that she has been going too ever since she was a kid. And ever since she had started going there, there was a dramatic change in her gifting abilities. Every night she went to sleep, she had a dream that felt so real, that sometimes shook Kaylynn awake at night. She didn’t know what in the world it was…. They weren’t just normal dreams, they were something more. She seemed to have these dreams several weeks before they had actually happened, and when they do, everything in her world seems to stop. Her hearing cuts out, and so does her sense of smell and her eye sight. And in only three seconds, the whole dream seems to pop into her head and then they happen before her eyes as she comes back to reality. Kaylynn didn’t know what they were… she talked to her parents, and eventually, it ended up being that they were visions. How did she know this? Simple.
There was one night where she had been at Youth Group, just before they gathered the teens together to have worship, a man had walked into the church, a man that she had not seen before and someone that she could not describe because he was just a black fuzz, everything about him was fuzzy except for the fact that he had on a black jacket and orange lining. He came into the church with a gun, and began shooting the place up. He made sure that he had gotten everyone, and the place where Kaylynn had fallen was right near the emergency door. She had been shot in the stomach, and allowed herself to lay there as still as she could as the murderer, the demon, walked around the entire room to make sure that everyone was dead, and when he was satisfied, he walked out. Kaylynn on the other hand wasn’t about to allow this to happen to her. She began crawling for the door, and reached her hand up, and said: “I’m not going to allow myself to die this way.” And as soon as she pressed her hand onto the door notch to push it open, she had woken up.
Instantly, Kaylynn had gone to her youth leader, Mr. Jeffery May. Why? Because she had believed that this had something to do with his idea of spreading their Youth Group, to allow others from other neighborhoods to come and join them. For a place like Faith Fellowship, it was hard to get followers. Why? Because the surrounding towns, Douglas, Upton, Northbridge, Whitinsville, Rockdale, Riverdale, and Uxbridge, had a very long history of being a Satanist community back in the old days. When she had informed Mr. May about what she had seen, about the visions and the dreams that she had been having about random people, he instantly took her warning and listened to it. But the only problem was that the other youth leaders didn’t feel the same. In fact, one of the leaders had approached Kaylynn and told her that she was the devil herself, that she didn’t want them to be spreading the word of God and eventually, she had started to pray against her. She remembered that somewhere in the Bible that when something was God given, and then prayed against, deaf falls on a child’s ears. And when this woman began praying, Kaylynn couldn’t hear her, she could see her lips moving, but not hear her at all. She left the church, to never go back again. Even after she had gotten a few phone calls to be asked to come back after her vision came true, with a little difference. The man that had gone into the church had knives instead of a gun… and that was when she had realized that she could change what she saw by a simple decision.
A few months later, Kaylynn was back in school, getting herself some good friends after Caroline had mysteriously disappeared with her family. There was one friend in particular, Brittany Norcross, the two of them were great friends, both inside and out of school. Which was surprising because Brittany was the type of girl that had everyone as her friend, she was very popular and a lot of people were jealous of her, and now because she had a someone with her in high school, Kaylynn was beginning to look better than everyone else.
It wasn’t until Kaylynn had gone to Florida with her mother did everything go downhill. Early one Saturday morning, when she had received a call from her brother, Marky. He was upset, clearly, and Kaylynn didn’t understand why. She had asked her brother several times over what in the world was wrong, and why he was crying, but that was when he had finally broken the news to her… Brittany was dead. And that was when her world started to fall apart. Kaylynn took the death of her best friend pretty damn hard, she had locked herself in her room every day, only went to school to come back and be in her room once more doing homework or watching the news. She never again went back to church, and she never again went back to any Youth Group. Kaylynn turned her back on God, and when she had done that, she had lost all ability to see the future and to see and hear the angels.
She was glad.
It was during this time though, that the world was beginning to fall apart, Croats were beginning to pop up everywhere and Kaylynn’s family were afraid to leave their house. The only time that they had left was to get themselves some food, but one night… while her parents had slept downstairs, her brother out of town, and Kaylynn upstairs in her room, Croats had gotten into the house and attacked her parents.
She was upstairs in her bedroom, looking through a photo album of her and Jessica. It was only a few minutes after she had opened the book did she hear the front door suddenly being thrown inward, and then her parents started to scream bloody murder. Kaylynn jumped up from her seat and charged out of her room and came to the top of the stairs, and it was there she had witnessed a murder scene…. There was blood all over the walls in the front wall, there were three Croats inside of her house, two of which were making a snack out of her father, who was kicking and screaming, and the other was staring down at her mother getting ready in for the change. Kaylynn however had made eye contact with her mother for three seconds, and before she could turn around and hide herself, the Croat that was standing over her mother turned to see her. It growled, and charged up the stairs.
Kaylynn screamed and turned on her heal and ran off down the hall and into the closest room, which happened to be the bathroom. She slammed the door shut before it could get her and she pressed all of her weight against it. The Croat began to repeatedly throw his body mass into the door, causing it to shake hard underneath Kaylynn, making her cry and scream. She gripped tightly at the door handle when they began jiggling it a little bit, and as her tears streamed down her face, she remembered the bloody screams of her father and the death like look in her mother’s face as she was being turned.
She looked up out the window and into the blue sky, her tears rolling down her cheeks as she stared. What was she staring into? She was staring into the direction what she believed was Heaven, and staring into the face of God. She clenched her eyes shut tightly, and began praying. Praying for the safety of her brother – considering that he was nowhere to be found – and praying for her father’s safe trip into heaven, and praying that her mother does not become one of those creatures that’s killed mindlessly by the government, and most of all, she prayed for forgiveness.
She had no idea how long she was praying for, but she prayed and prayed until finally the ramming on the bathroom door had stopped, and everything in the house was quiet. Kaylynn opened her eyes, and turned towards the door, opening it slowly and looking around. Her father wasn’t screaming anymore, and she was pretty sure that her mother was no longer in the house, as she stepped into the hallway to investigate the house… she was right. Her father’s corpse had been moved, her mother had taken off with the other Croats and she was left alive… why that happened she had no idea.
Two years later, Kaylynn traveled around the country to find her brother who has still been missing since the day that her parents were attacked. She as not run into her mother and she was glad for that, she didn’t take the offer of going with her best friend Julie to England to a safe zone out there. She stayed behind to find the only family that she had left because something in her gut had told her that he was still alive. Now that she had turned back towards God, her abilities had returned, and stronger than before. So now, at the age of nineteen she was working to find her brother and to better her abilities to use them so that she can find them.

[/b] She looked over, and her heart stopped beating rapidly. The sight of Quil honestly brought tears to her eyes. It was almost like all of the pain that she was currently in was lifted and all she wanted to do was just jump off of the bed and hug him tightly. “You know I have a cell phone, you could have called me any time over the last few days… seriously ANY time.”[/b]
Kaylynn had only been here for about a day or two, and they were already the longest days of her life. Why? Because she was just laying here in a bed at the Cullens’ house; it was awkward, considering that most of the people in this house weren’t really people and most of the people here actually didn’t like her. Though it was something that Kaylynn was going to have to get used too. Carlisle had managed to talk her parents into allowing her to move in with them. Kaylynn though had obviously fought Carlisle himself about it, she wanted to stay at home, but they came to a compromise. Kaylynn could go home whenever she wanted, but she was technically going to return to the Cullens and sleep here. How awkward would it be for the rest of them to have a sleeping human in their house when they don’t sleep? Well… Renesmee slept, so that was apparently a plus right?
Carlisle had made Kaylynn as comfortable as she could on the hospital like bed – it was actually a lot better than one of those plastic things – while he had her bandaged up almost like a mummy. The back of her head, where it has been bashed repeatedly against a tree, was stitched up to what Carlisle considered to be ‘poorly’ and it had bandages wrapped around it, wrapping around her forehead but keeping the top of her head exposed. Her hands had medical tape wrapped tightly around them with a piece of gauze covering over the horrible scratch marks with some blood poking through to the surface. Kaylynn’s right arm was bandaged and placed into a sling, resting lightly on her stomach as her other arm laid flat against the bed with several IVs in it, some of the pumping fluids into her body and another one giving her the blood that she had lost. Her leg was the worst… and she clearly remembered Carlisle snapping it back into place… her leg was bandaged and would be confined to a wheelchair for about six months, which too was also on a sling hanging over the bed, high above her heart. But it was her next that disturbed her the most… her neck had stitches and was wrapped in bandages, something that wasn’t really needed but she had requested it from Carlisle because she didn’t want to see it, at all. There on her neck was the bite from the vampire that had almost stolen her life, if it weren’t for Carlisle, she would be dead right now, or she’d be a vampire.
Kaylynn heard the front door opened (since she was on the first floor), but didn’t pay any attention to it. Her leg was throbbing in pain, she had a bit of a headache, and her shoulder was bothering her a little bit. Kaylynn’s dark chocolate brown eyes were staring out the window. Where was Zach? She figured that he should have come to see her by now, right after she had the strength enough she called him and left him a voicemail and then sent him a text. She was also pretty sure that Carlisle had told him what had happened too. Why wasn’t he here yet? She pressed her lips together. Something in the pit of her stomach told her that there was something wrong… something seriously wrong…
Whoever was at the door had made their way towards the room that Kaylynn was being kept in. her body responded by flinching, cringing and trying to turn away from the door. She knew that they wouldn’t let anyone inside that was going to hurt her, but after something like that… Kaylynn was afraid to just walk right down the street without having to look over her shoulder. There was the thought of finding Jesse, getting her to talk to Castiel to see if he could train her too, but Kaylynn didn’t want to be roped into the life of hunting. If she was going to be in this life, involved with vampires and werewolves, she was going to do it because she wanted to be, not because she had to be.
“Kay,”
He was right, Kaylynn could’ve called him, but she didn’t have the time for that. Carmen had threatened her family, everything that she lived for was threatened and was literally on the porch of death’s door. She couldn’t even call Zach without her parents being put into danger. Her nostrils flared and her breath escaped shakily. She corrected herself on the bed so that she was sitting up more, her eyes locked on him. Kaylynn pressed her lips together and stared at him.
Her tears betrayed her eyes, she could feel them rolling down her cheeks and at that moment, her hand lifted and she cleaned them off of her face. She didn’t want to cry in front of Quil, after all, she was Kaylynn Maverick, probably the toughest human girl that Quil as ever seen. Kaylynn had a firey spirit that when it was disturbed, it turned almost black and lashed out. She stood up for what she believed was right and she did everything that she could to keep her friends safe, even if that meant getting into a physical fight. That Kaylynn wasn’t here anymore. She was like a scared little girl who just wanted to be held by someone, and she didn’t care who it was. Kaylynn wanted to be comforted, and told that she was going to be safe… she wanted a security blankets and seeing Quil made her crack and show the world what had happened to her.
Kaylynn turned her head towards the window, still cleaning off her face, looking out into the forest almost like she was ashamed to let Quil see what she was doing. “I know…”[/b] her voice was soft and she was trying to make sure that it did not sound like it was cracking underneath the strong presence of her best friend being in the room. “But… it’s… I—”[/b] The horrors of the fight suddenly flashed in front of her from her memories and then everything on her body suddenly started to really hurt. “I couldn’t.”[/b]
She didn’t want to ask him… but she wanted Quil to lay in bed with her so she could safe again.
